Hongcun: The Huizhou-style ink painting of a picturesque countryside

Hongcun is a 'picturesque countryside' and a living example of Huizhou-style architecture. For two days and one night, between Yuezhao and Nanhu, you'll encounter China's most beautiful village.

Yuezhao is the heart of Hongcun, with a semicircular pond reflecting the white walls, black tiles, and horse-head walls. In the morning, the water surface is like a mirror, with women washing clothes and students sketching from life forming a natural ink painting.

Nanhu is the eyebrow of Hongcun, with painted bridges like rainbows lying on waves, and the lakeside Nanhu Academy once produced countless Huizhou merchant youths. The lakeside opera in the film "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" was filmed here.

Chengzhi Hall is known as the "folk Forbidden City," with exquisite brick, wood, and stone carvings. The wood carvings of the Shang-character gate and the "Hundred Sons Lantern Festival" are a testament to the wealth of Huizhou merchants.

Stay overnight at an old house and guesthouse; open the wooden window and see the Moon Marsh. At night, lanterns reflect in the water, and the sound of insects replaces the sound of cars—a long-lost tranquility in the city.
