When snow falls in the north, the coconut trees in Sanya are lush and green. Five days and four nights, from the fine sand of Yalong Bay to the glass sea of Wuzhizhou, in the blue of the South China Sea, winter is turned into the laziest summer.

Sanya's vacation starts at Yalong Bay. The seven-kilometer silver-white beach paired with the clear seawater of the "Number One Bay Under Heaven" — stepping on the sand, playing in the water, and lying flat is the standard vacation posture. Running by the sea in the morning and watching fishing boats sail out to sea is the most comfortable ritual.

Take a boat ride to Wuzhizhou Island, where the water is as clear as glass, and underwater coral and tropical fish are clearly visible. Go diving or jet skiing once, and your adrenaline will explode with the blue sea and sky. The Lovers' Bridge on the island is the perfect spot to watch the sunset.

Visit the Nanshan Cultural Tourism Area to see the 108-meter-tall statue of Guanyin on the Sea standing majestically. Coconut groves, Buddhist temples, and the sea and sky blend together, evoking tranquility. Nearby cave paradises are famous for their coastal reefs and Taoist culture.

Sanya Bay at dusk is perfect for a stroll. The sunset over the Coconut Dream Corridor dyes the sea a reddish-orange, and the Qingbu Liang and Baoluo rice noodles from Qilou Old Street are locals' favorite summer desserts. The seafood market is freshly bought and processed, cheap and fresh.

The meaning of Sanya is to give time back to the body. When friends in the north wrap their coats tightly in the cold wind, and you lie under coconut trees listening to the sea, you will sincerely thank the blue of this South China Sea, which keeps the cold at bay by a thousand miles.
