California Highway 1 is one of the most beautiful coastal highways in the world. Six days and five nights, an epic self-drive from San Francisco to Los Angeles between cliffs and the Pacific Ocean.
Starting from San Francisco, the red of the Golden Gate Bridge faintly appears in the mist. Heading south along the peninsula, Monterey's aquarium and Old Fisherman's Wharf mark California's lazy starting point.
Big Sur is the climax of the entire course, with the road running against the cliff, with a cliff plunging vertically into the Pacific on one side. The concrete arch of Bixby Bridge spans the canyon, the most common image on postcards.
Watching the purple sand at Pfeiffer Beach, watching the water plunge directly into the sea at McWay Falls—every turn in Big Sur could be a new marvel.
The southern section, Santa Barbara and Santa Monica, featuring Spanish-style white walls, red tiles, palm trees, and surfers. Upon arrival in Los Angeles, the road gently ends at sunset.
