Huangyao Ancient Town is located in Zhaoping County, Hezhou, Guangxi. It originated during the Song Dynasty and has a history of nearly a thousand years. The town is named after the predominantly Huang and Yao families. The ancient town features typical karst landforms, laid out in a nine-palace and eight-trigram formation, with alleys crisscrossing. The town has preserved over 300 Ming and Qing dynasty ancient buildings and 8 bluestone streets, with a strong Lingnan style. Three streams and rivers run through the town, with ancient houses, banyan trees, and small bridges and flowing water complementing each other, earning it the reputation of a "dream home." The ancient town is also famous for its couplet culture and produces Huangyao fermented black beans, which were once tribute products. As a national 5A-level tourist attraction, Huangyao is a great place to experience Lingnan culture and the poetic scenery of its landscapes.
